Practice-Based Learning and Improvement

Students are able to actively set and pursue clear learning goals and explore new opportunities for intellectual growth and development. Students demonstrate the ability to evaluate their care of patients through feedback and self-evaluation, and continuously work toward a growth mindset and life-long learning.

Graduates will acquire the following competencies related to practice-based learning and improvement.

Practice-Based Learning and Improvement 1: Self-directed learning; Identification of gaps in knowledge/performance

Engage in self-directed learning by identifying gaps in knowledge or performance, setting individual learning/improvement goals, identifying appropriate resources to achieve those goals, implementing appropriate strategies or activities, and evaluating performance improvement.

Practice-Based Learning and Improvement 2: Seeking and accepting feedback; Growth mindset

Seek and accept feedback from colleagues, faculty, supervisors, advisors, and other health care professionals. Appropriately modify behavior based on feedback and incorporate this information into daily practice. Provide appropriate performance feedback to peers, instructors, and other members of the health care team through use of thoughtful reflection and critical awareness.
