The Krannert Cardiovascular Research Center is an entity sanctioned by Indiana University School of Medicine, the Department of Medicine, and the Cardiovascular Institute for the purpose of supporting interdisciplinary advances in understanding, preventing, and treating cardiovascular diseases, and to foster the translation of basic discoveries to favorably impact the health of the people of Indiana and beyond.
Areas of Expertise
The Center's expertise spans basic, translational and clinical research in cardiovascular health and disease. Interdisciplinary teams are addressing cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, congenital heart disease, acute coronary syndromes, peripheral vascular disease, and metabolic disorders like obesity and diabetes. Cardiovascular faculty are driven by unmet clinical needs to discover basic mechanisms, earlier means of detecting changes before there are complications, and novel treatment strategies to improve quality and quantity of life for individuals and families at risk.
